From Novice to Prodigy:
Investing in the stock market can seem daunting, especially if you’re just starting out. But with the right guidance and a solid foundation, anyone can become an investing prodigy. Let me share some valuable insights that can help you navigate the stock market with more confidence.
How I started
I first dipped my toes into the stock market in the early 1990s. Back then, the internet was just starting, and the only way to track stock prices was through the fine print index tables in the business section of the newspaper. Placing a trade meant calling a broker on the phone, and most banks required a hefty $2,000 to open a brokerage account. As a college student, I didn’t have that kind of money. So, I convinced two friends to join me, and together we pooled $2,100 to start our stock market journey.
Learning the Hard Way
We had no idea what we were doing, but sometimes you have to jump in to learn. We argued over what to buy and sell, and eventually, we lost most of our money. But that was just the beginning. Over the next 30 years, I took many detours—losing, winning, learning, unlearning, and relearning. I followed good marketers who were lousy investors and discovered great investors who flew under the radar. Through it all, I learned valuable lessons.
The Investing Prodigy Approach
Investing Prodigy aims to teach novice and beginner investors to become true investing prodigies. In today’s age of information overload, it’s easy to get lost in the noise. But getting honest, valuable information and learning how to apply it is invaluable.
Real Education, Real Results
Don’t focus on 2-3 strategies that will make you millions overnight. Instead, focus on goal and a plan. Professional traders have a plan, back-test it, and stick to it. They have an exit plan and risk tolerance before entering a position. They document and adjust their plan if it’s not working. Advance traders also lose money. However, they make more winning trades consistently. Their success comes through patience and a philosophy or a plan.
Don’t Fall For Scam, or Guaranteed Results
I can’t offer you a 100% guarantee that you’ll make money—no one can. There are too many variables outside of anyone’s control. But my goal is to help you through real education and a deeper understanding of the market. Greater knowledge equals less risk.
